Vision
At Good News Church Edenvale, our vision is simple and clear:
We proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
This is at the heart of who we are and everything we do as a church. We believe the message of Jesus is the message the world needs most, a message of salvation, hope, peace, and new life through Him.
“This is the message of Good News for the people…that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.”
Acts 10:36 (NLT)
“Preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all).”
Acts 10:36b (ESV)
We believe Jesus Christ is Lord of all, and that through Him people can be reconciled to God, transformed by grace, and brought into a life of purpose, freedom, and spiritual growth. Our vision is not only to proclaim this message from the pulpit, but to live it out in our church, our community, and our daily lives.
Our Mission
Transforming people from a self-centred life to a Christ-centred life.
Our mission flows directly from the Gospel. We believe that when people truly encounter Jesus, their lives are changed. Through the power of God’s Word, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the life of the local church, people are called out of self and into a life fully centred on Christ.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…”
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
This transformation touches every part of life. It shapes how we think, how we live, how we love others, and how we serve the purposes of God. Our desire is to see people grounded in truth, growing in faith, walking in freedom, and becoming more like Jesus.
How We Live This Out
At Good News Church Edenvale, we believe Christ gave His church a clear purpose through the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. These shape the life of the church and also the spiritual journey we want to help every person walk.
Worship | Know God
We believe the church exists first to worship God. Worship is our response to who He is, and it is the starting point of a life centred on Him. Our desire is to help people know God personally and grow in a real relationship with Jesus Christ.
“You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.”
Matthew 4:10 (NKJV)
“[I pray]…that you may know Him better [personally].”
Ephesians 1:17–18
Fellowship | Find Freedom
We believe every believer is called not only to believe, but to belong. God designed His people to walk together in community, where healing, encouragement, support, and freedom can be found. We desire to be a church where people are known, loved, and helped to walk in freedom.
“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.”
Ephesians 2:19 (NKJV)
“[I pray]…that the eyes of your heart be enlightened (focused and clear).”
Ephesians 1:17–18
Discipleship | Discover Purpose
We believe the church exists to help people grow to maturity in Christ. As people grow in faith, they begin to understand the hope of God’s calling and discover the purpose He has placed on their lives. We desire to build a church where believers are taught, equipped, and formed into the likeness of Christ.
“Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:13 (NKJV)
“[I pray]…know the hope to which He has called you.”
Ephesians 1:18
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”
Romans 12:6
Ministry | Make a Difference
We believe the church exists to serve. Every believer has been gifted by God, and every believer has a part to play in the Body of Christ. We desire to equip and release people to serve with love, faithfulness, and boldness, so that their lives bear fruit for the glory of God.
“For the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:12 (NKJV)
“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV)
“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
John 15:8
Evangelism | Reach the Lost
We believe the church exists to reach those who do not yet know Christ. The Gospel is for all people, and we are called to carry the Good News beyond the walls of the church into our community and the nations. As people are transformed by Jesus, they are also sent to make Him known.
“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’”
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
Our Church Culture
We believe the culture of the church should reflect the character of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. Healthy church culture does not happen by accident. It is built intentionally through prayer, discipleship, leadership, and obedience to the Word of God.
We Are a Spirit-Led Church
We believe the Holy Spirit leads and empowers the church. We desire to remain sensitive and obedient to His leading in every area of church life.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
Romans 8:14 (NKJV)
We Are Committed to Prayer
We believe prayer is foundational to the life and health of the church. We desire to be a praying church that depends on God rather than human ability.
“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.”
Colossians 4:2 (NKJV)
We Are Committed to the Word of God
We believe the Bible is the authority for faith, doctrine, leadership, and daily living. We desire to teach and apply the Word faithfully and clearly.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
We Are Committed to Discipleship
We believe every believer should grow toward spiritual maturity and Christlikeness. We desire to build a culture where people are taught, equipped, challenged, and encouraged to follow Jesus fully.
We Are Committed to Serving
We believe every believer has a part to play in the church. We desire to equip people to serve according to their gifts, calling, and ability.
We Are Committed to Reaching People
We believe the church exists not only for itself, but also for those who do not yet know Christ. We desire to remain outward-focused in evangelism, compassion, and community impact.
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
